Welcome to the glog, my ghostly little blog where I spill all the spooky tea (or ectoplasm, depending on the vibe). Today’s topic? The infamous Friday the 13th—a day shrouded in superstition, whispered legends, and, for me, a surprising dose of good luck.
For centuries, Friday the 13th has been a date that sends chills down spines. Some believe it’s tied to the Biblical Last Supper, where Judas was the 13th guest, or the unlucky day when the Knights Templar were arrested in 1307. Others think it’s just an unlucky number paired with an unlucky day, because why not double the bad vibes? Cultures worldwide have their own twists: in Italy, it’s Friday the 17th that’s considered unlucky, while in Spain and Greece, it’s Tuesday the 13th. Superstition clearly knows no borders!
Then there are the fun traditions: black cats crossing your path (personally, I think black cats are delightful), avoiding ladders and broken mirrors, and of course, all the horror movie lore that makes Friday the 13th feel like it crawled right out of a Halloween film. 🎃
But for me, Friday the 13th has always been a day of magic and unexpected blessings. I’ve always felt more in tune with the energy of the day—a little extra creativity, a boost in good fortune, or just a sense that the veil is a little thinner between worlds. It's the kind of day that feels perfect for haunted adventures, chatting with my ghostly companions (hi, Birdie), and celebrating the beautiful mystery of life.
Today, I’m leaning into that lucky feeling by embracing belief and imagination—the same magic Birdie reminded me we all carry. Whether you’re warding off bad vibes, basking in the spookiness, or simply enjoying another Friday, take a moment to celebrate the magic you bring into the world.

What does Friday the 13th mean to you? Do you lean into the superstitions, or do you see it as a day of unexpected opportunities like I do? Let me know—I’d love to hear your take on this spooky, lucky day.
Until next time, stay spooky (and lucky)!
